Lo Que Cultivamos

A coral reef isn't created overnight.

It begins with countless small organisms, each adding its own layer until, over time, an entire ecosystem emerges. What appears to be a single landscape is actually the accumulation of thousands of moments working together.

I believe our inner lives unfold in much the same way.

In this painting, three layers reveal that journey.

The water represents the unseen—the emotional depths that hold our experiences before we fully understand them. Beneath every visible transformation is a quieter current, carrying our fears, hopes, memories, and dreams.

From those waters, the reef begins to grow. Like a coral ecosystem, our inner world is shaped gradually by what we cultivate: the relationships we nurture, the beliefs we hold onto, the joys that expand us, and the wounds that invite us to change. No single moment defines us. It is their accumulation that creates the landscape within.

Finally, the face emerges.

Identity is not separate from these layers; it is born from them. The person we become is inseparable from the ecosystem we have been building throughout our lives. We see the world through everything that has taken root within us.

Lo Que Cultivamos is an invitation to look beneath the surface and reflect on the invisible landscape that shapes who we are.

After all, we become what we cultivate.
