Inner Landscapes
Inner Landscapes grew from my curiosity about what we carry within us — the thoughts, emotions, and memories that shape who we are, often hidden beneath the surface. When I paint a figure, I’m not trying to capture likeness alone, but to reveal what lives underneath: the quiet inner worlds, emotional histories, and unseen forces that quietly guide us.
Each portrait blends the visible and invisible. Symbolic elements — flowers, color, time, and fragments of environment — emerge as extensions of the subject’s inner life, reflecting growth, vulnerability, and transformation. These internal spaces are treated as living landscapes, constantly shifting and evolving.
The figures themselves act as a metaphor for coral reefs: complex, interconnected ecosystems where every part matters. Just as reefs thrive through relationships and interdependence, our inner and outer lives are woven together in intricate networks of experience, memory, and emotion.
At its heart, Inner Landscapes is about connection. As I paint others, I recognize parts of myself in them, and invite the viewer to do the same. The series reflects a shared human experience — that we are all in motion, shaped by what we feel and remember, blooming and evolving in ways that are often unseen but deeply felt.
